What We Believe

At Fullerville Baptist Church, we believe that the Bible is the final authority in all matters of faith and practice. Our doctrine is grounded in the eternal Word of God. We preach Christ crucified, risen, and coming again. The following statements represent the foundation of our faith.

The Scriptures

We believe the Holy Bible was written by men divinely inspired and is the very Word of God. We believe the King James Version is the preserved and trustworthy Word of God for English-speaking people, and we use it exclusively in all preaching and teaching.

2 Timothy 3:16–17 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.”

Psalm 12:6–7 – “The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Thou shalt keep them, O LORD, thou shalt preserve them from this generation for ever.”

The Godhead

We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Ghost. These three are co-equal and co-eternal.

1 John 5:7 – “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.”

Matthew 28:19 – “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost.”

The Person and the Work of Christ

We believe in the full deity and humanity of Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, sinless life, substitutionary death, bodily resurrection, and literal return.

John 1:1, 14 – “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God… And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us…”

Luke 1:35 – “And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee; therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.”

Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”

The Holy Spirit

We believe the Holy Spirit is a divine Person, equal with the Father and the Son. He convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, seals, and empowers believers.

Ephesians 1:13 – “In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise.”

John 16:8 – “And when he is come, he will reprove the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment.”

Salvation

We believe salvation is by grace through faith alone in the finished work of Jesus Christ. It is not of works, but is the gift of God.

Ephesians 2:8–9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.”

Titus 3:5 – “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;”

Eternal Security

We believe that all who are truly born again are eternally secure in Christ and can never lose their salvation.

John 10:28–29 – “And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.”

1 Peter 1:5 – “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”

The Church

We believe the local church is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ and governed by His Word.

Acts 2:41–42 – “Then they that gladly received his word were baptized: and the same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls. And they continued stedfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, and in breaking of bread, and in prayers.”

Ephesians 5:23 – “For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body.”

Baptism and the Lord’s Supper

We believe there are two ordinances for the local church: baptism by immersion after salvation, and the Lord’s Supper as a memorial of His death.

Romans 6:4 – “Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.”

1 Corinthians 11:26 – “For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord’s death till he come.”

The Second Coming of Christ

We believe in the imminent, pretribulational return of Christ for His church (the Rapture), followed by His premillennial return to earth to reign for a thousand years.

1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 – “For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.”

Revelation 20:4 – “And they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.”

Heaven and Hell

We believe in the eternal blessedness of the saved in Heaven and the eternal punishment of the lost in the Lake of Fire.

John 14:2–3 – “In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Revelation 20:15 – “And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.”

Creation

We believe the Genesis account of creation is literal and historical. God created the heavens and the earth in six literal days.

Genesis 1:1 – “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.”

Exodus 20:11 – “For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.”

Human Life and Marriage

We believe life begins at conception, and that God created marriage as the union of one man and one woman for life.

Psalm 139:13–14 – “For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.”

Genesis 2:24 – “Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.”

Separation

We believe Christians are called to live holy lives and to separate from sin, worldliness, and false doctrine. We also believe in ecclesiastical separation from those who deny the fundamentals of the faith.

2 Corinthians 6:17 – “Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you”

Romans 16:17 – “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.”
